Vintage Vogue: Hey, Hey Applique

As a vintage seller there are some things I just always pick up if I see them, no matter what. These applique wrap skirts are one of them. I've always just loved the novelty of them. They're usually made in Florida and have two coordinating colors with a great applique on them. Over the years I've had several and I just adore them for summer. They're fun, easy to wear and quintessentially vintage!

Vintage Vogue: Cowboys + Indians

Western wear and Navajo inspired looks have been strong over the summer with chambray button up work shirts and Southwestern vibe prints. They work nicely into the fall and winter months adding a cozy, Americana feel to your wardrobe.

Vintage Vogue: Brocade Parade

With this massive heatwave this summer, I have been dreaming of the fall. The trends are pointing towards luxe, rich fabrics like brocade. Brocade is a tough one to pull off cause it can veer off into overdressed for most things very quickly. But I think toning down things like brocade dresses with more causal things like some scarves, flats or just wearing an accessory can really make the trend wearable.

An elaborately-patterned fabric woven on a jacquard loom since the early 19th century, brocade uses color, texture or both to emphasize its figures. The figures and ground may be of contrasting weaves such as satin on plain weave. Vintage Vogue: Creamy Crochet

Classic white and off white crochet pieces feel very summery and early fall to me. I like the look of them worn sparingly in the hot summer months and I dig them in the fall, layered with other rich fabrics like velvet or denim.

Vintage Vogue: Chambray

Chambray is defined as a lightweight clothing fabric with colored warp and white filling yarns. In fashion it's often seen as a lightweight blue denims. I love a nice broken in chambray denim shirt - it's better than pjs!

Vintage Vogue: Smooth Like Silk

This morning I saw the cutest silk shorts in a gorgeous coral color and the girl looked positively cool as a cucumber. I always pick up silk items when I'm shopping. I'm drawn to them while perusing the racks and when you've been thrift shopping as long as I have, you're trained to pick out the quality among the massive quantities. I'm especially enamored with those minimalist pieces, light and airy - perfect for steamy summers.
