Vintage Vogue: Brocade Parade

With this massive heatwave this summer, I have been dreaming of the fall. The trends are pointing towards luxe, rich fabrics like brocade. Brocade is a tough one to pull off cause it can veer off into overdressed for most things very quickly. But I think toning down things like brocade dresses with more causal things like some scarves, flats or just wearing an accessory can really make the trend wearable.

An elaborately-patterned fabric woven on a jacquard loom since the early 19th century, brocade uses color, texture or both to emphasize its figures. The figures and ground may be of contrasting weaves such as satin on plain weave.
