Este Blog Investe E Acredita Na Proximidade

iKonic received a blog award this week from Haute Country Vintage Co. Thank you! Or maybe I should say Gracias! :)

Apparently this award is in some Hispanic language but it boils down to a sort of six degrees of separation of bloggers by giving the award to blogs that are 'close' to you in one way or another.

"Blogs who receive this award are 'exceedingly charming' say its authors. This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

And now, I give you the eight blogs I find 'exceedingly charming'!

1. The Vintage Traveler
2. Market Publique
3. Here's Looking Like You, Kid
4. Vintage Desnisebrain
5. Couture Allure Vintage Fashion
6. Glamoursplash
7. Vintage Fashion Guild Blog
8. Etsy Vintage Street Team Blog

High-Five Fridays: Blog Love

This week I wanted to share five of my favorite vintage/fashion related blogs.

1. Lizzie's Vintage Travel Journal - I've known Lizzie for years and I've loved her blog from day one. Her website also offers a ton of informative articles on vintage fashion and designers.

2. Debutante Clothing's The Deblog - I love reading The Deblog. It's written in such an accessible and relaxed way, it's just like talking to your bff.

3. Vintage Indie - This is a new one in my favorites but I wonder how I lived without it before. She's always doing really hands-on stuff like coordinating swaps and contests or just giving a daily does of inspiration.

4. Denisebrain - Another person I consider a friend is Maggie of Denisebrain. I love reading her posts and I love looking at her in her beautiful vintage modeling poses even more!

5. Vintage Fashion Guild Blog - Last and definitely not least is the collaborative effort of the VFG blog. I wrote for it for a couple of years but with time and energy as limited as it can be, I had to drop out. But in my opinion it's only gotten better! An everyday read.

High-Five Fridays: Etsy Love

This week for my High-Five Friday I went straight to my favorites on Etsy!

1. This great vintage silver-plated decanter label for "Scotch" gets a bit frisky and tipsy - rearranged as a party time pendant from t8designs.

2. Major cute overload is right! Great earrings feature a tiny vintage glass jewels in a metal setting have a little 3D image inside of a horse and rider jumping over a gate. From saltandpaper.

3. Off with her head! These domino magnets were made with scanned copies of illustrations from Alice in Wonderland and then colored both with colored pencils for a different look. The edges of the domino were colored with markers and then sealed with a clear gloss finish. Gold leafing was added around the edges to finish the look. From RunAliceRun

4. Every girl need a pocket mirror. A Black and White lady with fun flowers in her hair pocket mirror from missbellasroom.

5. I am in love with this Porcelain Retro Modern Cream and Sugar Set with Geometric Pattern from VaudevilleVintage1 (pictured).

High-Five Fridays: My First Time

This is my first Friday doing this, but I love the idea and I'm going to make it a weekly staple here on iKonic Vintage! So without further adieu here are my high-fives:

1. How super cute are these Bambi playing cards from 1946 from CorkSpork? I just want to eat lil Thumper!

2. Polyvore is a site that's for mixing and matching products from any online store. Items are pulled together into a visual set of products that can be shared with anyone. This is a great tool for putting together looks of items on your website or shop for a complete look. A fabulous marketing tool!

3. Vintage Fashion Guild is a daily stop for me with their forums, but the entire site is a plethora of vintage information from the infamous Label Resource to the Shop VFG Members page where you can find trusted sellers to buy from.

4. The Interactive Johari Window was invented by Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham in the 1950s as a model for mapping personality awareness. By describing yourself from a fixed list of adjectives, then asking your friends and colleagues to describe you from the same list, a grid of overlap and difference can be built up. This is just some self-awareness fun!

5. Blue Q Merchandise is full of fun and unique stuff that make perfect gifts for friends. I got these vintage handbag magnets from a friend a couple of years ago and they're just about the coolest thing on my fridge!
